Is the Affirming Schools Program right for my school?
We only work with a limited number of schools because this program is specifically designed for schools that align with our values.
Here's what we're looking for:
- You're a school administrator or staff member with the ability to make decisions about curriculum and professional development programming.
- Your school has done some diversity, belonging, and inclusion work. This isn't your first jump into DEIB work. You've laid some of the groundwork, and you want to take it deeper.
- You and your leadership team care about justice, diversity, and belonging. We don't mean that your mission statement says you're committed to diversity - we work with schools who are actually prepared to make a commitment to it.
What exclusive benefits does our school have access to through the program?
Lesson plans, trainings, information, activities, learning, events, and so much more...
Trainings, professional development sessions, and events
Your team will have exclusive access to monthly professional development training sessions put on by leading experts in justice and belonging education. These sessions would usually cost schools more than $1,000 each. Here are some examples of the training sessions we've done in the past:
- Decolonizing your classroom
- Supporting identity development in culturally affirming spaces for kids
- How to better support your neurodivergent students
- A 9-step framework for introducing students to social justice and eliminating bias
- ...and so much more!
Preschool-8th grade justice & belonging curriculum
Every member of your school community will get access to our justice & belonging curriculum. Our curriculum helps educators:
- Save hours each week by using done-for-you lesson plans
- Respond to difficult moments and teach about sensitive topics with confidence
- Feel confident the lessons will be developmentally appropriate
- Teach SEL skills with lessons aligned to the CASEL standards
- Teach academic skills with lessons aligned to Common Core standards
- Address a wide range of justice & belonging topics without excessive research and planning
- Trust that all of the resources are based on deep experience and research with child development, and they are created by people with lived experience
Teacher digital professional learning community
It's no secret that teachers are burnt out. Our community space offers them an opportunity to connect with like-minded educators, get the moral support they need, share resources, and get re-energized and inspired by the work. Educators in the community could find:
- Advice for responding to difficult or uncomfortable questions or comments from students
- Support in finding resources they need on various topics
- Collaboration opportunities
- Feedback on lessons, plans, or activities
- Answers to all of their justice & belonging questions
- Connection and camaraderie with others who are in the trenches
- ...and so much more.
Everything you need to build a school rooted in justice & belonging
